All Eyes on Estoril — Bulega and Razgatlıoğlu Set for Portuguese Showdown

Estoril, Portugal — The 2025 World Superbike Championship is reaching its boiling point. As the paddock sets up at the iconic Circuito do Estoril, all eyes turn to Nicolo Bulega and Toprak Razgatlıoğlu. With only one round remaining after Portugal, every tenth of a second could decide the fate of the championship.

Friday Recap: Pressure and Performance

Nicolo Bulega pushing the Ducati V4R to its limits during FP2 at Estoril — smooth, fast, and laser-focused.

Bulega delivered a stunning FP2 performance, clocking a 1’35.778 — the only rider to dip into the 1’35s. His short, aggressive runs showed serious pace potential, even if long-run endurance remains his biggest question mark.

“We improved some little things,” Bulega reflected. “Me and Toprak are a bit faster than the others … It’s just Friday.”

Toprak Razgatlıoğlu showing his signature smoothness on the BMW M 1000 RR — consistent, controlled, confident.

Razgatlıoğlu may not have topped the timesheets, but his FP2 long run was a masterclass in rhythm and control. Over 16 laps, 15 were within the 1’36 range — with only a 0.277-second delta between his best and worst laps. It’s the type of consistency that wins titles.

“I was just focused on my race simulation,” he said. “We need to improve some corners … I believe my crew will improve the bike for tomorrow.”

Championship Context: Every Point Matters

Heading into Estoril, 36 points separate the title contenders. Bulega’s raw speed gives him potential for big gains, but Razgatlıoğlu’s reliability could be decisive. With just one round left, neither can afford even a small mistake.

Estoril Circuit: a blend of long straights, sharp corners, and elevation — a complete test of precision and pace.

  • Bulega: Must turn qualifying pace into race-winning consistency.
  • Razgatlıoğlu: Focused on strong finishes and safe points to protect his lead.
  • Setup focus: Electronics and tire life will be key over full distance.

Weekend Watchlist — What to Look Out For

  • Superpole Qualifying: Expect Bulega to go all-in for pole — clear track, clean air, maximum risk.
  • Race 1: Whoever takes early control usually sets the psychological tone for Sunday.
  • Superpole Sprint & Race 2: These are the money races — expect fireworks and bold tire choices.
  • Weather & Grip: Estoril’s changing conditions could make tire strategy a gamble.
